Suggest Treatment For Soreness And Swelling On The Penile Foreskin

default
Posted on Fri, 21 Oct 2016
Question: So after extensive research I still am unsure of what it is exactly that I have. A day after unprotected sex symptoms began showing. Soreness on the XXXXXXX and foreskin as well as swelling of each. Also, a white clumpy substance under the foreskin and the crevice between the shaft and XXXXXXX We had sex two days later, and now the symptoms are more obvious. I've used antifungal cream 2 times already and it's not really uncomfortable at all. Initially, the feeling was like a poking, now there's no discomfort. Also been drinking a lot of cranberry juice. now 24 hours of taking precautions have lessened all symptoms, just not to the point of being gone. Redness persists, but there are also small red dots on the XXXXXXX and less so on the foreskin. No discomfort whatsoever. No pain while urinating. To complicate things even more, I have a hemorrhoid at the same time. Is this a yeast infection contracted from my most recent sexual partner, Balanitis stemming from a yeast infection, or beginning stages of herpes?

no red dots on shaft. The red dots on the XXXXXXX are flat. Also the end of the foreskin is super red and inflamed. Still hurts when I try and retract the foreskin but again not that painful.

Brief Answer:
Seems to be candidiasis which is a yeast infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at Health Care Magic
I am Dr Asmeet Kaur Sawhney, Dermatologist.

I have gone through your complaints and you seem to have developed candidal balanoposthitis which is a yeast infection most likely contracted from your sexual partner.

If I was your treating doctor I would recommend you to apply anti-fungal cream like Clotrimazole cream on the affected area twice daily.

You have used Lotrimin ultra cream which is also an antifungal but it is not very effective in treating candidiasis or yeast infection. That's why it was not very effective in your case.

Besides this, keep the area dry and please request your partner to get herself examined for candidiasis and take treatment accordingly.

Till the time she is treated, please don't go for unprotected intercourse, Otherwise it will worsen.

Feel free to ask if you've any further queries.

Regards
Dr Asmeet

So this is definitely a yeast infection contracted from my partner? Men can't have yeast infections unless they come from a woman? Is it possible I already had this, but it was lying dormant? Are there a lot of woman out there whom don't know they have a yeast infection?

The picture provided is after a shower.

Brief Answer:
Seems to be yeast infection, most probably contracted after intercourse

Detailed Answer:
I have reviewed the attached photograph and it is yeast infection.

It is most probable that you got yeast infection from your partner as your symptoms started after intercourse and became more obvious after intercourse.

Yeast infections are common in persons with diabetes, on long term antibiotics, immunosuppresive drugs besides being sexually transmitted.

It can be possible that the infection was already present but was lying dormant and got aggravated because of intercourse but that seems unlikely in your circumstances.

Yes there are many females who are totally unaware that they are having yeast infection.

How will I know when it's gone? Will it be gone for good? How long will it take?

Brief Answer:
Once the signs & symptoms will subside, will take 2-3 weeks

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back,

The redness, soreness and red dots will start disappearing once the infection got treated accordingly.
Then you can stop applying the cream.

It will usually take 2-3 weeks for the infection to disappear completely but the response should start within 5-6 days of starting treatment.

Regards

so no sex for about a month?

What if the girl isn't showing any symptoms? Is that because she passed it on to me?
