Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat

default
Posted on Sat, 13 Dec 2014
Question: I have a sore throat.
Was given Bactrim.
The doctor said it was very red.
No relief.
I think I may have scorched it with overuse of a Vitamin C, hot coffee, and too spicy foods.
I have a trip to Europe in the next day.
I suggested GERD to my doctor and he said no.

What to do.
How long to get better?

Brief Answer:
Unlikely to be Gerd

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcaremagic
Greetings of the day

GERD or gastroesophageal reflux could have respiratory symptoms as atypical presentation. It usually leads to recurrent respiratory symptoms associated with Hyper reactive airway disease. Your Physician right in not suspecting Gerd with isolated episode of sore throat.

If the inflammation associated with Sore throat is severe it could time some time longer for resolution. Also your symptoms could have been aggravated by use of spicy food.

I would suggest you the following which will help me faster recovery

1. Warm saline gargling : To a glass of lukewarm water add 2 spoons of common table salt. Gargle the throat with it thrice a day.
It will help relieve throat congestion.

2. Sip one spoon of honey with two drops of lemon juice added 4 to 5 times a day

3. Steam inhalation

4. Consider adding decongestant cough syrup

Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.

Take care
