Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat, Vertigo And Cough

Question: Hi there. Made an appt with my doctor but can't see me until April 7th. I have had two bouts of vertigo in the last 3 weeks. I am experiencing intense allergies, as in post nasal drip, runny nose, itchy eyes, ringing in my ears, cough, etc. It has been very windy here for a week straight. The first episode happened 3 weeks ago on a day I had a severe sore throat and seemed to have a virus for a few days along with the vertigo, low grade fever, sore throat, etc. that all went away and then I started experiencing the allergies about 2 weeks ago. For the last 3 days I have felt like a fluttering sensation around my left ear area, (very annoying) and then had a vertigo episode today. My question is can vertigo be caused by allergies? I generally take no medications, very conservative, but took an antihistimine today in hopes of helping the dizziness. Thanks for any opinion you can share on this. By the way, I had a vertigo issue about 10 years ago which doctor diagnosed as virus, and then more vertigo 2 years ago that lasted a couple of days and then went away. Sincerely, TK

Brief Answer: vertigo can be due to internal ear. Detailed Answer: Hi, Thanks for writing your query. After reading your post, I would advise that you should get yourself clinically examined and investigated by an ENT specialist. Sometimes disturbance in internal ear can cause vertigo. It can be precipitated by cold. You should take betahistine 16mg thrice daily. Also put 2-3 drops of oxymetazoline in your nostrils. You can do gargles with warm saline water to get releif from sore throat. I hope this is helpful to you. If you have any further query, I will be happy to help. Regards. Thanks.
