Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat And Fever

Question: Hi

I have a very sore throat - can hardly swallow. My glands (or what ever it is) down from the end of my jaw to about half way down my neck. I feel very tired but do not have a fever. I have only very minimal nose sinus symptoms.

Do you think I may have step throat?

What can I do to minimize symptoms and get over this?

Also my son is taking his Fire Fighter fitness test on Thurs and I am worried he might get this - what can we do to minimize the chance?

Welcome to Healthcare Magic and thanks for putting up the query
You are probably suffering from tonsillitis. Please send me the pictures of your throat so that I can suggest you better.
Start using hexidine gargles and take paracetamol. It will help to relieve pain.
Ask your son also to use these gargles to avoid any infection.
This can be streptococcal or some other bacterial infection. Follow up with the pictures so that I can suggest you better.

You are having pharyngitis.
Take tablet cefixime 200 twice daily and tablet levocetrizine plus phenylepherine combination twice daily for 5 days.
also take tablet vitamin c once daily.
All the medicines I have prescribed will be available at prescription only.
Continue with the gargles.
