Brief Answer:
It seems to be bacterial infection and needs antibiotics after checkup!!!

Detailed Answer:
Warm Welcome. I appreciate your trust in HCM and assure you are on best portal on the globe for expert online medical services.

I have thoroughly reviewed health query you raised, and well realize all of those concerns. Being your physician, I will take care all of them today and will extend my expertise to solve the problems.

I feel sorry for the sufferings you had to bear for 2 months. Sinuses infections is one of the major causes of post nasal drip and other symptoms you are having right now.

For that you need proper medications after thorough evaluation by an Otorhinolaryngologist. He will have to go for a physical examination and camera guided review of the nose and throat. Infected and inflamed mucosal lining can be seen and other reasons for such symptoms may also be ruled out e.g. Deflected nasal septum, Nasal polyps.

You did good to take vitamin C as it helps to some extent in respiratory infections but your issue is more severe and at his age low immunity also accounts for difficult resolution of infections. So we need antibiotics.

If I was your treating Physician I would have prescribed you with Azithromycin antibiotics if not allergic to plus I would have preferred to send the culture and sensitivity test of sputum to see the pathogen causing infection. Antibiotic can be changed accordingly to pathology lab results.

Other supportive remedies:
You may take Tab. Acetaminophen(650mg twice Daily after food) for pain and inflammation relief.
Mucinex can be carried on.
Fexofenadine will help get relief.

If your ENT doctor feels fine he may also add corticosteroid orally for fast recovery.
Keep a warm mist vaporizer in your room with vicks vapopads in it for a soothing respiration.

Also you need an evaluation from a dentist as Periodontal disease are also a cause of sinus infections.

Hope I addressed all the concerns you have. Let me know if you have further questions. I will be more than happy to clear any doubts. For any disease you have, a timely follow-up is necessary regarding the treatment efficacy and to see if there is a need to change treatment options. So keep a follow up to see how you doing (Always write down my name in start of your questions at this forum & I will be with you in no time).
