Suggest Treatment For Shortness Of Breath And Profuse Sweating

default
Posted on Tue, 17 Nov 2015
Question: I have been experiencing shortness of breath and profuse sweating for 6-9 months. I have had an Echo of my heart and a stress test, both were normal with the exception of pressure in the pulmonary artery. What could it be?

i WOULD ADD THAT MY SHORTNESS OF BREATH WAS INITIALLY ONLY UPON EXTERSION (WALKING FROM ONE END OF THE HOUSE TO THE OTHER, DOING HOUSEWORK) BUT CURRENTLY I AM EXPERIENCING THE SHORTNESS OF BREATH (I WAKE UP DURING THE NIGHT AND FIND I HAVE SHORTNESS OF BREATH) DURING SLEEPING.

Brief Answer:
Get done CT Pulmonary Angiography to rule out Pulmonary embolism.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, possibility of Pulmonary embolism or bronchitis is more.
Both these conditions can cause progressively increasing breathlessness, sweating and raised Pulmonary artery pressure on 2d echo.
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done
1. Clinical examination of respiratory system
2. PFT (Pulmonary Function Test)
3. CT Pulmonary Angiography.
PFT is needed to rule out bronchitis.
CT Pulmonary Angiography is needed to rule out Pulmonary embolism.
And treatment of Pulmonary hypertension is different. It is not similar as of systemic hypertension. Benazepril has no role in Pulmonary hypertension.
So consult pulmonologist and discuss all these.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health. Thanks.
