Brief Answer:
Frozen shoulder. Needs sugar control, exercise, Physiotherapy

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

Thanks for the query.

Your father is probably suffering from Frozen shoulder or Adhesive capsulitis.

This is common in Diabetic patients and presents with restriction of shoulder movement and can be progressive.

It is important to maintain strict blood sugar control with proper diet and medication. Get his HbA1c levels checked to note if there has been proper long term control of blood sugar.

Pain killer like Tablet Ibuprofen 400mg twice a day for 5 days can be taken with Tablet Rabeprazole twice a day. Hydration is important. Hot packs can be applied around the affected shoulder.

Frozen shoulder responds to physiotherapy, shoulder range of motion exercises, hot fomentation very well but needs strict blood sugar control as well.

Steroid injection in the shoulder joint with our without manipulation of shoulder November's under Anaesthesia is also helpful.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
