Brief Answer:
Diagnosis and management of headache

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX, thanks for asking from HCM.

I can understand your concern. You are having one side headache with redness in eyes which could be due to

: Migraine - It presents as one side headache, nausea, vomiting, redness in eyes, blurred vision, fear from light, aura symptoms before headache like abnormal smell/bad taste/palpitation etc. Sometimes headache may present with pain/tingling/numbness like sensation on same side of body. Headache is usually triggered by emotional stress, season change, sweet food.

If your signs and symptoms resemble above mentioned features, it could be migraine.

Migraine is managed by preventive and abortive therapy. Preventive therapy includes
; Avoiding precipitating factors like stress, bright light, loud noise, food like cheese/chocolate/sweets, physical stress.
; Medication like beta-blockers (Propranolol), antidepressants (Amitriptyline, Nortriptyine), antiepiliptics (Gabapentine) can be taken after proper prescription.

Abortive therapy includes painkillers like
; NSAIDs - Diclofenac or Aceclofenac
; Ergotamine
; Triptans like Sumatriptan
Usually treatment is started with NSAIDs. Triptans and ergotamine are given if no relief with NSAIDs.

: Eye disease - Eye pathology like Glaucoma can cause same side headache, blurred vision, redness and watering from eyes, vomiting. Glaucoma is defined as rise in intra-occular(eye) pressure in anterior chamber. Acute rise in pressure can cause blindness.
Diagnosis can be confirmed by ophthalmologist. Acute glaucoma attack is an emergency condition. Urgent pressure reduction is needed. Kindly consult doctor if your symptoms resemble above mentioned features.

Treatment includes
: Pressure lowering eye drops or oral medication like diuretics, acetazolamide/Dorzolamide drops or tablets.
: Surgery of iris or Iridectomy

Other eye pathology like conjunctivitis, eye lid infection can also present with similar features. But headache is mild and there is severe eye pain. The ophthalmologist will rule it out also.

Hope it will help you. If still no relief, you can provide me more details of your pain like character, duration, any visual complaints, it will be helpful in making some conclusion.

Thanks. Take care.
