Question: My mom, 54, was admitted to hospital with severe headache and vomiting. She had sensitivity to light durng these three days. Now she's discharged from hospital and doc said she has sinus and migrane. CT scan was normal it showed some presence of sinus. Now it's third day after coming home from hospital she still has headache and wooshing sound in ear. I hope it is because of sinus. Please do tell me is it coz of migrane and sinus or she has to do other checkups for other diseases? Whom should see? Neurologist? Or ENT?

Brief Answer:
Consult ENT surgeon

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Madam.

I understand your concern.

Her current symptoms can be directly related to the issue of sinusitis.

It's very important to get a CT scan of the paranasal sinuses rather than CT brain.

CT PNS can identify the degree of sinus involvement.

Based on the results FESS(functional endoscopic sinus surgery can be offered).

This will offer a near permanent cure.

You need to consult an ENT Surgeon with the report of CT PNS if results are positive for significant sinusitis.

Migraine has to be followed with the Neurologist.

Post your further queries if any.
Thank you.

Thank you so much for the answer. She seems very tired nowadays (after hospitalisation). I hope that is because of medications. right? How long it will take her to become active as like before? she still has slight headache. Its been 3 days since she left the hospital. She is right now on medications such as sibelium, oflox, lumenec, ondet and pansec. Note: she had urinary infection too during hospitalisation. Thanks

Brief Answer:
Takes 2-3 weeks to normalize from here on.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Madam.

I understand your concern.

The fatigue in her case is rightly due to the effect of medications and a part of post-infectious recovery.

A headache in her case needs evaluation via CT PNS as already explained.

It takes approximately 2-3 weeks for her to recover to a normal state.

Yes UTI can weaken a person to a large extent.

She should be alright once the course of medications is finished.

Post your further queries if any,
Thank you.
