Suggest Treatment For Severe Fever And Chills In A Child
if it's just fever you can wait to see how it goes
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
fever with chills is a pretty common symptom for infections. The most mild and the most severe infections may have this symptom in common. If there are no "serious" symptoms the best strategy is to wait to see how it goes. Examples of serious symptoms include: severe headache, shortness of breath, faintness and/or low blood pressure, true rigor (rattling teeth, etc), pleuritic pain, abdominal pain that won't get better, etc.
Common (usually benign) symptoms include: runny nose, nose congestion, mild headache, sore throat, etc. Keep in mind that some serious infections may present with common symptoms at first and develop their full clinical picture later.
So in cases like this with fever only the best strategy is to wait for a while. Using ibuprofen is not encouraged unless absolutely necessary. Prefer to use paracetamol (acetaminophen) which is a drug with less side effects if used according to instruction.
Of course, going to the doctor is the only way to find out if something is serious or not...
I hope it helps!
Kind Regards!
