Suggest Treatment For Severe Ear Pain And Infection

default
Posted on Thu, 27 Aug 2015
Question: I woke up with a severe ear ache (L) ear. I did a zipnosis with my care giver, who Rx'd an ear drop for out ear infection, and suggested I contact my Primary, for an inner ear infection. I have been unable to open my mouth without pain. I just noticed a peas sized nodule on my TMJ. I have had Bilateral surgery (many yrs ago) Wondering if the nocule is ear related, or joint related.

Brief Answer:
Likely to be related to the ear

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

Based on your description, its most likely to be pre auricular lymphadenopathy associated with an ear infection e.g otitis media. An ENT doctor or a G.P can examine your ears and the lymph nodes draining them. If clinically evident , medication such as antibiotics and NSAIDs can be prescribed accordingly. The nodule is likely to be related to pathology of the ear and less probable to be associated with the temporomandibular joint.

Wishing you best of health

Thanks
