Suggest Treatment For Severe Anxiety

Posted on Mon, 11 Jan 2016
Question: I get anxiety because I'm a college student at the University of Arizona. Consequently, because of my anxiety, I missed an online Final exam... I do not know what to tell my professor "Hey professor, I get severe anxiety and that's why I missed your exam". Is there any way to get an excuse note so that I may have an opportunity to take it?

Detailed Answer:
Welcome to HCM, and thanks very much for your question.

I'm sorry you're suffering from anxiety. Clearly this has significantly affected your life.

Could you please describe your anxiety symptoms in more detail? Specifically, when did anxiety start, have you have any panic attacks, what does anxiety feel like to you, and how is it interfering with your schoolwork?

Have you talked to your professor about this? Sometimes all you need to do is talk to them. Most teachers are very understanding and would be happy to work with you to help you succeed.

I need to conduct a formal exam with you, but after completing this I would be happy to write you an excuse note. For a more in-depth consultation and to arrange this exam, please contact me at my private link:
