Brief Answer:
Regular exercise will help.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
After a tear the muscle heals with a scar tissue and whenever there is excessive stress it will give a feeling of stretching due to lesser elasticity and tone of muscles in the area. This can be overcome only with regular exercise to increase the muscle strength in the area. You can stress it until you start feeling a pain or stretching in the area. The capacity of the muscle to bear the stretching will build up gradually.
I hope this answers your query.

I would of already strengthen my hamstring a fair bit playing a lot of tennis from October last year to March this year, and for a while I had strained my hamstring a fair bit where I think the scar tissue is. After I tore my hamstring pretty bad, a large black bruise soon formed on the back of my upper leg near where I tore my hamstring. I've done 5 weeks training of Australian Rules Football and played in all 3 games so far this season, and have run as fast as I can without tearing my hamstring. It feels like their is a fair bit of scar tissue and is weakness in my hamstring. It's impacting my performance a fair bit when playing football, and at the age of 27 I still want to perform at my best. Would surgery help to remove the scar tissue?. I'm probably going to see a very good physiotherapist to see what they can do for me.

Only physiotherapy can help.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Surgery is not likely to help you as it will involve more of rest and inactivity for healing. Only physiotherapy can help.
