Question: During recent test we came to know that my wife's Right kidney is small. Details are:
56X23mm small in size, altered echopattern. Increased echogenicity. CMD lost. PCS compact. No e/o calculus. Few cysts are seen, largest measuring 24X13mm with concretions within.

Question is: do we need to worry about the kidney functioning and any other checks that we need to make.

Brief Answer:
She need proper evaluation.

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Findings may suggest renal parenchymal disease. It may be due to many reasons like glomerulonephritis, refux etc as it is unilateral.Bilateral disease is generally due to chronic diabetes mellitus, hypertension etc.

Besides clinical evaluation, your wife may need further investigations.
Investigations include routine hemogram,random blood sugar,urine RE/ME,complete renal function test(include serum urea,creatinine,creatinine clearance),GFR,serum sodium,potassium,calcium,chloride,bicarbonate,phosphate,24 hour protein clearance.
Further investigations can be done if needed.
Specific treatment depend upon findings.

Cysts are developmental and it is not concerning.

Get well soon.
Hope I have answered your query.
Further queries are most welcome.
