Question: I have a problem with whenever I get hot or around the sun something with heat I always get extremely itchy to the point where it hurts and they won't stop even when I scratch also I will start getting red rashes around my body along with like tiny little bumps but as soon as I get out of the heat it will go away and I will be fine. Also I can drink or eat something cold and it will get rid of the feeling as well I am wanting to know if this is something I need to get checked or something I can just try to treat with trial and error kind of system

Brief Answer:
Cholinergic urticaria

Detailed Answer:
hello. thank you for writing to us.

I am Dr. kakkar (dermatologist). I have gone through your query and I have noted your concern.

Perhaps you have cholinergic urticaria. It is a type physical urticaria. The trigger for cholinergic urticaria is increase in core body temperature that induces sweating which is followed by itchy wheals surrounded by a red flare.. Exercise, hot shower, eating spicy food, emotions (like embarrassment, anger etc) strong sun, fever etc are the usual triggers of cholinergic urticaria. Cholinergic urticaria is chronic however it may remit spontaneously. Many patients will have it only during winters and are fine during summers.
Treatment is once daily oral antihistamine e.g either cetrizine 10mg or loratadine 10mg (claritin) or fexofenadine 120mg and they are usually effective in controlling cholinergic urticaria apart from avoidance of possible triggers.

Regards
