Question: I'm 28 years old, female. I have developed reoccurring hives, bumps on my skin that turn into painful bruises, dull ache after one alcoholic drink, fatigue, brain fog and now left hip pain after a walk that has my left calf feeling. I do not have a gallbladder as it was removed in 2008.

Hello

Thank You for contacting HCM. My name is Dr Muhammad Ali Rauf & i will look into your problem.

I have gone through your query and would try to help you in the best possible way. If i were your treating doctor then i would have advised following things for recurrent allergic reaction(in the form of hives):

- cetirizine one at night for 5 days
- wash/change bedding thoroughly.
- Montelukast one daily for one month. Research has shown that it decreases the allergic symptoms considerably.
- try to avoid food that will aggravate the problem

I would also suggest you to under go allergy testing at allergy clinic as you have chronic allergy problem. It will tell that you are allergic to what specific thing. The results will help an allergist to prescribe you immunotherapy to that specific allergen and it will improve the problem

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!

Hello

I'm sorry for not addressing them at the same time. Your stmptoms are linked to drink use and alcohol affects most to liver. In case of liver pathology the symptoms like fatigue, leathgy can occur.I would suggest you to once get liver function test(LFTs)done to confirm the status of liver. Further management would depend upon the results. Meanwhile following measures will help:

- naproxen thrice a day for 3 days
- multivitamin supplement (like vit. b complex) once a day for 3-4 weeks.
- Take a balanced & nutritious diet rich in protein, iron and vitamin A. Good sources include legume, lentils, green leafy vegetables, fruits and milk.

Thank You
