Suggest Treatment For Recurrent UTI And Vaginal Infection

default
Posted on Fri, 22 Sep 2017
Question: Hi, I have had several UTI's in my life and 1 yeast infection. Right now I am experiencing:
-itchiness
-burning
-urgency to pee
The discharge isn't very abnormal but there seems to be a bit more than usual. The symptoms I described are bearable which is why it took me so long to go to a doctor (I'm used to much worse). My doctor tested me for a UTI and it came back negative, I took a yeast infection self-test from the pharmacy and found out it was "possible" I had a yeast infection so I tried monistat. That was a couple of months ago. I haven't been back to the doctor but the symptoms still persist. I'm thinking of trying another doctor tomorrow. I was hoping I could get some advice or insight.
I should also add that I have been having sex with the same partner for 2 years and we haven't had sex in over a month.
I'm not allergic to anything.
Thanks,
XXXX

Brief Answer:
Oral antifungal

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand the concerns.
Recurrent urinary tract infections and vaginal infection can be due to inadequate treatment.
For fungal vaginal infection, you should take oral fluconazole tablet along with local antifungal pessaries.
For recurrent urinary tract infection, you can take fosfomycin once a week for 4 weeks.
Also drink plenty of fluids.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
