Question: Hello! Over a month ago now i developed a rash on the back of my right thigh. It was reddish And came after hot yoga/running. I was told it was contact dermatitis. Shortly after i started having pain in my joints...my thumb joints, fingers, wrists, knees, etx. No soreness or swelling..just intermittent aching. I went back to the dermatologist who did bloodwork for lupus and a cbc...both came back negative or normal. I then deceloped 2 rashes on my chin/nexk that resembled misquito bites but didnt itch. I went back to the doctor who did yet another cbc, mono test and both were fine. Finally got in to see a rheumatologist who said i had arhritis in my spine and muscle spasms in my neck. He did a thyroid panel and checked for other things. He found i had a bad vitamin d deficiency...mine was 17, the normal is 32 to 100. He prescribed vitamin d supplements twice a week. I go back in XXXXXXX for a re check and a comprehensive cbc test, etx. I am nervous that this is being caused by something scary as the rheumatologist said various cancers can cause vitamin d deficiency....although i feel better than i did i do still have achiness in my one thigh and hands, feet from time to time throughout the day. I am on the third week of vitamin d supplements. I am also concerned bc i am also starting to have another bite like spot on my neck...this one is a little itchy though. Anyway, i am worried that my joints are still achey and that all this is caused by a serious illness. I am only 27 and have a 7 month old and 2 and ahalf year old. I am worried about why the doxtor is doing another cbc in XXXXXXX just to make sure it isnt something horrible...makes me feel on edge.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
I have read your query.
You need to continue vitamin D supplements.
If rash is still coming then you need to rule out systemic cause by doing blood investigation.
PET scan will help to rule out cancer in early stage also.
But you should have other signs of cancer like weight loss and anorexia to suspect cancer.
so don't worry and keep regular follow up and CBC.
I hope I have answered your questions. If you have further questions please feel free to contact us. I will be happy to answer. Take care.

Thank you! I understand about the skin issue but CBC was done recently and came back normal so im not sure it would be a systemic cause...what are your thoughts on that? I am not experiencing any weight loss thus far and definitely still have an appetite. I am tired but just started a new job. Again, im just worried this is something really serious.

Hello again,

Thats good that you do not have weight loss and loss of appetite.

If skin eruption remains persistent then you need to investigate further.
