Suggest Treatment For Psoriasis Along With Severe Itching

Question: Sir from last 11 years i am affected by psoriasis. Till yesterday i was going to aurvedic and homeopathic treatment. But all in vain. Today i consulted allopathy / English medicine and the doctor advised me to take Tricort 4 mg -seems a steroid. I was informed that steroids has very bad side effects. But now i cant tolerate the itching. Is it safe to take tricort 4 mg tablets. And i dont want to take these steroids life long. Solution please.......

Welcome To HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I understand your concern.
See you need to understand that Psoriasis is a condition that can't be completely treated. It can just be controlled.
For acute lesions and itching, I would recommend you not to use oral steroids. In fact they are contraindicated.
So you should use topical steroid creams containg Clobetasol. They would show wonderful effect with minimal side effects.
For itching purpose you may take Levocetrizine that should help you.
