Suggest Treatment For Premature Ventricular Contraction

Question: A while back i was suffering with anxiety and was put in the hospital for heart monitoring to rule out any dangerous conditions. the only thing they found wrong was that I was having PVCs. They said these weren't any danger and that they were completely benign and not to worry about them. I continue to have them but it seems like i always get a few PVCs whenever i exhale or laugh. I even started to notice them during orgasms. It seems like every time i breathe out, laugh, or yawn, i experience these PVCs. Is this a normal rhythm for PVCs or should i be concerned?

Brief Answer:
Yes, not worry about PVCs.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mr XXXX,
Premature ventricular contractions known as skipped beats in simple terms.

If they occur occasionally then no treatment required for that because they are benign.

Usually symptoms like palpitations, dizziness, breathing shortness etc can be felt when your heart skipped a beat.

If you have frequent feeling this beats like you said during laugh, yawn, orgasm etc then the causes may be anxiety, electrolyte imbalance( sodium, potassium, magnesium mainly),alcohol consumption, insomnia, drug induced or very rarely in some heart diseases.

In more than 90% cases they are benign (as your doctor also said) and no further investigations required.

To clear any doubt,You can still go for holter monitoring ( 24 hour recording of heart rhythm) which can give clue about cause or 2D echocardigraphy to rule out any structural heart pathology.

Treatment is generally not required as they subside automatically with the age but if any of above cause found then depending upon the cause.

Hope you will understand now.
No need to worry.

Also, whenever I eat something my heart rate and blood pressure increases. Normally my heart rate is borderline hypertension, staying around 135/87 with a resting pulse of around 85-95, but when I eat my heart rate increases to about 130 and my blood pressure goes up to around 150/95. Is this normal?

Brief Answer:
mostly it is normal

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mr.XXXX,
Increase in heart rate after eating is mostly a normal phenomenona due to parasympathetic stimulation and due to increase blood flow to heart.
The abnormal causes are dyspepsia, indigestion, allergic reactions of food, gastroesophageal reflux disease( GERD),hiatus hernia or thyroid disease.
If heart rate is irregular and rapid then it could be due to premature ventricular contractions or paroxysmal supra ventricular tachycardia ( PSVT).
As I said earlier you should go for holter monitoring and 2D echo or TMT test.
Some tips te reduce heart rate after eating.
1) Avoid heavy meal rather you take small frequent meals.
2) Avoid fatty, oily and spicy foods
3) drink plenty of water before taking meal.
4) drugs like beta blockers or calcium channel blockers but after physician's consultation.
