Question: I have sick for since the first of March with bronchitisis and pneumonia. I seem to be getting over that, but I still have a cough, and runny nose all the time along with sneezing. No fever. I have been on the Z-pack, amoxicillin and I just completed a prescription of Leviquin. I have also been taking Allegra D. It is miserable!

Brief Answer:
post bronchitis cough.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your query.

Probably, you have post bronchitis cough because allergic congestion in the lungs. I regularly get to see such cases at my OPD and most often it take few weeks (4-6) before resolving. Therefore if I were your treating doctor, I would have prescribed loratidine with ambroxol comb tablet for about 15 day, daily twice. Along with this a short course of steroids for about a week, deflazacort 30 mg daily twice for 7 days and expectorant cough syrup 10 ml twice daily would relieve you from this misery.
Discuss with your treating doctor for a prescription.

In the meanwhile avoid oily foods and cold items, curds, for 2 weeks.

Hope my answers helps you . pleased to help you further.
