Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. There are a number of things I would like to point out from your query sir:

+Do you have pain while breathing? Or does the pain get worse on breathing?
+Has there been a recent chest X-ray which your doctor has viewed, that has ruled out infection completely? If yes, when was this chest X-ray conducted?
+Are you still on antibiotics? If not, then when did your course of antibiotics complete?
+Do you have a fever now?

I look forward to hearing from you in order to help you further ma'am; these are important questions and I shall only be able to accurately address your queries after this information.

Best wishes.

Still on antibiotics

Chest X-ray shows that lungs are clearing up

With deep breaths lungs are ok but yes I certainly stimulate the pain in my back

Any other questions ?

My question of course is how can I get some relief from the back pain & how long should I expect that it has to take to start " thawing out " ?

Brief Answer:
Pain management, breathing exercises, healing = pain relief

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again sir.

Thank you so much for your response and patience.

The pain is due to the stimulation of the peripheral nerves, resulting in the pain. The pain is going to be present as long as the infection is present sir. As you are still on antibiotics, and the lungs are clearing up, the infection should soon subside.

But you can expect the pain to be present as long as the infection is there, and for a while longer. The relief comes from pain relief medication sir (e.g. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, etc.), but I prefer you get a prescription from your doctor for pain killers sir as your doctor knows your physical condition and tolerance best.

For your other question sir, the pain usually remains as long as the infection does sir. In some cases, the pain lasts for a while even after the infection.

Pneumonia is serious business, and many individuals get re-infected resulting in pain arising even after complete resolution shown on a previous X-ray. Some individuals experience complications of pneumonia like pleurisy, bronchitis, etc; all resulting in the reappearance of pain in the chest and back regions again.

I hope I have explained things in a manner best understood by you. Please also feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
