Posted on Mon, 6 Mar 2017
Question: I am. 64 year old woman with chronic blepharitis which has been under control for years. I stopped using daily eye wipes for a couple of weeks and developed pink eye in both eyes. I have gone through two courses of antibiotic drops and ointment, but still have varying degrees of redness and now have a smal red rimmed rash on my chest.

Brief Answer:
Please send a photo of the small red rimmed rash on your chest...

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concern.

1. Pink eye has various causes including bacterial/viral/fungal infection, allergy, foreign bodies, etc.

In your case, the use of oral and local antibiotics has not helped pink eye. This makes me think that there is another cause to your pink eye.
Allergy especially if you have been changing anything at the place you live.

2. You say that now have seen some small red rimmed rash on your chest. Can you please provide a photo of this rash area?
It could be fungal infection or herpetic rash. That's why I wanted to see myself.
The skin rash could be also related to pink eye resistant to antibiotics used so far.

Thank you.
