Brief Answer:
You need to take antibiotics.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.
I am Dr Ramadevi Wani. I will be answering your concerns.

From the picture you seem to have pharyngitis and follicular tonsillitis due to bacterial infection.
Do you have any fever? You need to consult a physician and take antibiotics.

In addition, do saline water gargling (luke warm) three to four times daily. Take warm liquids and soups. Take bland diet. Avoid spicy and oily food. Take Advil for pain.

Do let me know if you've any further queries.

Best wishes,
Dr Rama

Thank you very much. I am on vacation and unable to see a physician for another 24 hours or so without completely ruining the trip. Since I don't have a fever in your opinion should I be fine to wait until tomorrow to get antibiotics? The pain is there but isn't intolerable. I've had tonsil stones in the past where I could easily scrap them away after gargling salt water. This time they can't be scrapped away.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.

Since the pain is tolerable and you do not have fever, you may wait till tomorrow. I hope you have Advil. Take 400 mg twice daily after meals.
As I have said before do saline gargling, take warm fluids and eat bland food.

I hope this is helpful.
Best wishes,
Dr Rama
