Suggest Treatment For Persistent Floaters In The Eye

default
Posted on Tue, 29 Sep 2015
Question: This morning, I was sitting in the TV room when I noticed a floater in front of my left eye. I would blink and it wouldn't go away. The flashing lights were in the shape of a C and just lingered. After a few minutes the C shape seemed to get bigger and it looked like it was on the side of my eye itself. After a half hour, my eye sight gradually returned to normal and now I do not have it anymore.

Over 4 years ago, at the eye doctor for annual exam, I was told I have very thin walls (/) along left side of my eye and they diagnosed me with macular dengeneration (?). I've never seen floaters or flashes this obvious until today. Should I be worried?

I have a history of migraines since I was 15 and have worn glasses since I was 3. Recently, for two months I took a birth control pill that I had to stop due to depression, headaches, etc. Could a birth control pill trigger this? I stopped the pill three weeks ago due to my bad side effects.

Brief Answer:
Visual changes are related to Migraine and Birth pills.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Madam.

I understand your concern.

I have gone through your query in detail.

This possibly represents vitreous degeneration.
Vitreous is a liquid in front of the retina.
This is known to occur in Macular degeneration.

The C shape could possibly represent fortification spectrum, a type of visual aura associated with Migraine.

Yes, OC(birth control) pills are known to worsen Migraine related Visual changes.

It is now very important that you undergo detailed evaluation of your Vitreous-through Fundus examination of the eye.

Further management is based on the test results.

Post your further queries if any.
Thank you.
