Suggest Treatment For Persistent Cough And Cold In A Child

Question: My son 2.5years old weighing 13kg suffering cough and cold since last 2 months.he was given antibiotic and no progress. And finally we had done blood test and found it was due to allergy(immunoglobulin is 429).He was given montair LC kid ,bro zedex,xylz with nebulization (levocetrazine).Now last week he had viral fever with cold and coughand doctor prescribed LC kid,ascoril d withnebuuzation.His fever was gone but now heavy cold (thick white mucus)with wet cough.the cough is severe when he is sleeping lying down.We continue to give brozedex but no use.No breathing issues but his chest is severely congested.canyou please suggest a medicine for cough?Is asciril LS good?We are also continuing with LC kid for another 1month as per doctor advice.

I have gone carefully through the details and understand your concern. Most often such symptoms are due to viral infections and antibiotics are ineffective in such cases. Antibiotics would not help and irrespective of treatment it usually spontaneously resolves in 5-7 days. Some children are more prone to catching cold and recurrent episodes are seen. Such infections are frequently associated with an allergic component and the elevation in Immunoglobulin (possibly IgE) confirms this propensity.

The mentioned medicines are good and proper and you can continue them without worries. Ascoril LS is good and effective (better than Ascoril D). You can also continue Montair LC Kid. Continue nebulization or steam inhalation as your options permit.

We have got ascoril LS+ from shop instead of ascoril LS.can I use LS+ or should I get LS itself.also what is the dosage and how many times a day for how long
