Question: hi there.
My symptom are rt side hearing loss, vertigo and tinnitus , Pain and numbness in the rt leg on and off everyday.

I had a MRI Brain W/WO IAC/ CPA done May 1, 2014 results were .

Soft tissue T2 hyperintense enhance lesion in the left temporal is muscle measuring 14 x 8 x 18 mm. Suggesting correlation with ultrosound.

And a small left posterior -axial enhancing lesion a meningioma. Lesion size 9 x 9 x 5 mm.

Small vessel loop near the opening of the AIC.

Recommendations balance therapy and F/up MRI in 6 mths.

My questions is why do I have lesions in different AREAS of the Brain and no Ultrosound was done that the Radiologist had recommended for the left Temporalis muscle ?

Brief Answer:
Mass occur due to unknown reasons.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I noted the details found on MRI contrast scans. Honestly all those features just needs follow ups and nothing more at this point of time.

To answer your questions why you have them:
- Well, medical fraternity is yet to decipher reasons for tumors and mass. Meningioma is a benign and generally harmless tumour linked to genetic changes. Yet, they are not proved as the cause.
- The vessel loop is an anatomical malformation. Perhaps the change occurred during development within the mother's womb.
- And the soft tissue mass; I assume was not clinically significantly. You can consult a surgeon who can perform a detailed clinical examination since the mass noted is within the muscle. If the surgeon still feels it, he/she can order an ultrasound scan of the area and study it further. As per MRI scan report it has no alarming features to be worried about.

In short as per my knowledge, these mass neither explains the balance issues nor does it explain your limb pain/numbness. Right side hearing problem, vertigo and tinnitus is most likely secondary to internal ear issue. Visiting a neurotologist will help you.

Limb pain and numbness is most likely due to lumbar spine problem. You can get the spine examined at the neurologist's office. If needed, you will be asked to undergo scan of lumbar spine.

I hope this reply answers your questions. Let me know if you need clarifications.

Regards
