Suggest Treatment For Painful Swelling In The Ankle

default
Posted on Fri, 6 Jan 2017
Question: Quick question,

A few days ago, the part of my foot, just in front of my ankle (see picture where I point) started hurting quite badly, as if I had sprained or injured it, even though I don't recall injuring this part of my foot. What could cause pain out of nowhere on this part of my foot where injury is not the factor? Should I be worried?

Its not really my ankle though doctor.
Its on the top of the foot rather.
Everytime ive had my blood taken, its been nearly perfect. I cant see my doctor that easily just due to my work schedule. I dont know if i should be worried or not .

The light isnt flattering for these pictures at all. I just took the socks off, so they're a little dirty. Right foot is the one thats hurting .

Brief Answer:
could be ganglion

Detailed Answer:
Hi I am Dr Gopal Goel Orthopedic Surgeon.
Since picture is not available my diagnosis will be only on history that you have pain in the foot .
I would say that foot bones / joints start hurting (without injury) , when there is a local swelling like a ganglion / Bursa in a small foot joint.
I suggest an X ray to see the joint arthritis ,S uric Acid to rule out gout and start pain killers and hot fomentation for a few days.
I hope to have answered your question. Please feel free to ask any further questions.

Brief Answer:
ankle arthritis

Detailed Answer:
Hi I am Dr Gopal Goel, Orthopedic Surgeon.
Just saw the new pics- the area you have pointed is anterior part on ankle joint only , otherwise normal with no apparent swelling or deformity .
In my opinion , it is most likely to be ankle arthritis.
I suggest x ray of the foot and pain killers for the time being

Understood. So more than likely arthritis, and not liver disease or blood pressure?

Answered by Dr. Dr. Gopal (8 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
yes

Detailed Answer:
Hi
In my opinion it more likely to be ankle arthritis .
I could not see any significant swelling so I would not consider the possibility of Blood Pressure / Kidney / Liver disease as a primary cause of this pain.
Thanks for the query
