Question: Hi, my 17-year-old son burned his hand today at around 1 p.m. Now, at 4 p.m. it still is hurting intensely. He has some blisters. Should I take him to acute care or just continue to care for it at home?
Thanks,
XXXX

Brief Answer:
can continue care at home

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX

Welcome to HealthcareMagic.

If the burn area is small and not involving the palms, you can continue the home care.

In that, the blister needs to be punctured by a sterile needle and press it with a cotton pad to drain off the fluid. Do not remove the bister skin, just puncture it only.

Apply an antibiotic cream over the burn area and give him any painkiller to reduce the pain and inflammation.

Hope i have been helpful.

Thank you, Doctor. What if the burn is on the palm of his hand? It is about 2-3 inches up on the palm from his wrist, and on the middle finger and thumb?

Brief Answer:
show to a doctor then

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX

Then you need to show to a doctor as burns over the palms are dangerous from the point that can hamper the function of the hands.

But if the burn area is very small and limited to the fingers only, not extenting to the palm, then you can follow home care as i had told earlier.
