Brief Answer:
can be many things

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome to healthcaremagic,

A small swelling in the soft palate can be many things. The soft palate is not very smooth, it has many small bumps. There are salivary glands and also lymphoid tissue in the soft palate that give rise to its rough surface.

A small boil can be a mucocoele or a papilloma or an enlarged lymphoid tissue. If possible please upload a clinical image so that I can guide you specifically. Also tell me more details as to when it came about and features like color, consistency and appearance.
Only examination by a physician or an ENT can tell the difference.

Regards,
Dr Rajkishori Godhi (MS ENT)
