Posted on Mon, 6 Jul 2015
Question: I had an uncomfortable event today where I kind of choked a little and burned at the same time and swallowed which hurt a lot and was strange. now I have been dealing with a very uncomfortable a little painful feeling in the middle of my throat. I feels like an obstruction or a knot in the throat. swallowing is uncomfortable or and a little painful... so is yelling burping etc. I was afraid to eat but eventually had dinner tonight (ribs and corn). it wasn't uncomfortable eating but now that I'm done I do feel that same painful knot in the middle of my throat when I swallow saliva drink water. It also feels like a bruise if I polled at my neck in that area. my sister says it could be my epiglottis. whay can It be?

Brief Answer:
do not worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome to healthcaremagic,

You have probably injured your throat while swallowing. The injury will be minimal.

Do not worry about it, it will get better in a day or two.

It is definitely not epiglottitis.

Eat soft food for a couple of days.

For the pain you can take a pain killer like Tylenol after confirming your dose.

Feel free to follow up,
Regards,
