Question: if I went to u after the accident would u send me for an MRI

Answered by Dr. Rakesh Madhyastha (2 hours later)
Brief Answer:
CT scan

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the query

Trauma is one of the most common cause of chronic long standing pain as many structures get affected after an accident including bones, nerves, muscles, etc.

Now answering your question, if you had come to me after an accident I would not send you for a MRI, CT scan would be the first choice as I would be interested to rule out fractures. However if I am suspecting tissue injury then probably I would have ordered for a MRI.
MRI takes a very long time compared to CT, so for emergency situations CT would be the first choice of investigation

I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me

I wish you good health

Regards

Brief Answer:
Hello

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the reply, I am sorry for the late reply. I was held up at work.

The bulging disc and the following wear and tear of the the spine could be due to the trauma caused after the accident.
The pain in the stomach could be due to the radiating pain from the back region.
I strongly suggest you to approach a spinal surgeon and seek his help for any reversible factors and surgery for this bulging disc.

I also sugest the following

1. Do not engage in strenuous activities
2. Do not life heavy weights
3. Swimming is the ideal form of exercise for you
4. If you are obese then losing weight will help reduce the pain
5. Continue physiotherapy
6. I have seen many of my patients benefit from acupuncture. It is worth a try

I hope I was of help, I am once again sorry for the delay in my reply.

Regards
