default
Posted on Wed, 3 Sep 2014
Question: Hi,

I had a ligament tear on my right knee two months. Now after resting i am able to use it without experiencing pain. Yesterday while catching a frisbee, as i landed on my left foot, i experienced a pain at the back of the knee. Today morning, the pain seems to have increased and i am not able to stretch the knee straight. Currently i have worn a knee cap and giving it rest. Please let me know if its again a ligament tear and should i stop playing for the rest of my life.

thanks,
XXXX

Brief Answer:
can be sprain on ligament of knee.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have studied your case.

Due bang of foot there can be sprain on ligament of knee.
Another possibility that healing of previous ligament is incomplete.

You may need rest for few days.
Take analgesic and use supportive brace.
physiotherapy with USG and TENS will help in early healing.
You can play sports after complete recovery from injury which may take 6 to 9 months.
You can do gradual walking and cycling gradually after few days.
If not recovered then repeat MRI may be required.
