Question: My ankle has been bothering me for about a week and now I have noticed it seems swollen over the ankle bone.

I have studied your case. I think you are having ankle synovitis. In this there is fluid collection in the joint. Before I advised you any thing I would like to know little detail about your illness.
1.Did you injured your ankle?
2. Are you having pain and swelling in other joints also?

I did not injure the ankle. I don't have swelling in other joints but I do have arthritis. Even though I had a knee replacement in the other knee I still have pain all over as my surgery was complicated with a MERSA infection. This was about 3 1/2 years ago. I have been diagnosised with scherloderma. I take a blood pressure once a day and a thyroid pill. Also HRT and chloroesteral and 80 mgs. aspirin plus Nexium and Tramadol.

Hello,
I have studied your case.I think you are having inflammation of the ankle joint. It is causing fluid inside ankle joint leading to pain an swelling. I have following suggestions for you.
1.Get x ray of the ankle joint to see if there is any arthritis present in the ankle.
2.Tablet Brufen twice daily.
3.Hot water fomentation.
4. Steroid injection in ankle joint.
5.Voletran ointment and compression bandage .
