Suggest Treatment For Pain And Soreness On The Side Of Neck

Question: Hi, I hit my head diving into my above ground pool last night. I did not lose consciousness but my neck immediately hurt and it still feels sore today. I do not have any other symptoms but I am wondering if I need to go to the ER to get checked out?

Hi,

I am sorry for the accident you had.

If I was your caring doctor would advise to go to ER and get an X - ray of neck done to evaluate possible damages there from the hit.

Take otc pain killers and apply cold compresses on the place you got hit.
Try not to make fast movements of your neck and limit its normal movements.

If you are not having nausea or vomiting or severe headache that won't resolve with pain killers, then should go tonight.

Otherwise, wait for next morning and get Xray done and further consultation with your doctor.
