Question: My cat brought in a mouse, it was still alive. I through a rag over it, picked it up and threw it in a plastic bag. In that process the mouse bit me. I live in Alamo Ca, bay area. Should I be worried about rabies?

Brief Answer:
Go for 1)Anti-rabies shot and 2)Tetanus shot.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!
I am Dr.Rovena
I had gone through your query and understand your concern.
Bites from nonimmunized domestic animals and wild animals carry the risk of rabies and tetanus.

If it was a deep wound the risk is higher but a minor wound doesn't exclude the risk.

Since Tetanus and Rabies are life-threatening infections You can not take the risk.
I suggest to go for:-Anti-rabies shot.
-Tetanus toxoid shot.
Meanwhile clean carefully the wound.

Hope I was able to help you.
If you have further questions I will be happy to help.
Take care.
