Brief Answer:
menopausal symptoms

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to health care forum.
I usually come across ladies with these types of symptoms . what your mother is experiencing is known as menopausal symptoms of mood swings. they can present themselves at any time after menopause . i will advise to follow these simple steps initially.
1. ask her to take plenty of water , app 2-3 lyrs of it.
2. avoid hot and humid temperatures.
3. if she takes coffee then ask to decrease it's intake.
4. increase intake of fresh fruits and salad.
5. increase or start taking walnuts daily as they contain natural estrogens.
6. increase intake of soy protein in diet.
follow these steps and get back to me . regards Dr Manisha Jain.

Brief Answer:
common after 60

Detailed Answer:
Usually ovaries keep on secreting minor amounts of estrogen till 60-65 years of age and typically till 5-7 years after menopause so many females have a smooth transition to menopause and after that almost 30-40% of females feel hot flushes and mood swings which are more common during changing season.
Take precautions as advised and I'm sure she will feel relieved to much extent.
Take care
