Suggest Treatment For Moles On Penis Shaft

default
Posted on Fri, 27 Mar 2015
Question: I have 4 small, what I would describe as moles on the shaft of my penis, I was told buy an online doctor that it's moluscum, could they be wrong? I've had them 2 years, I've read moluscum have a small hole in the centre and can be squeezed, although not advised! But these just looks like moles, 1-3mm smooth and slightly raised and slightly darker than surrounding skin. Can you advise? And what can I do to get rid of them

They seemed to appear farely quickly but started quite small and slowly grew, 1 is about 3mm the other 3 are approx 2mm, they are in pairs, 2 together and the other 2 together about an inch away, first noticed 2 then the other 2 appeared shortly after. Havent had any more since and that was about 2 years ago. The only meds I've had is antibiotics. They do not itch and aren't painful. I

Brief Answer:
This DOES NOT look like anything dangerous.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing back,

I understand your concerns, I have read both your posts and will try to come with with a comprehensive answer to prove helpful for you.

I have seen the image, It does look like two possibilities.

1) Molluscum Contagiosum.

2) Colourless mole.

3) Swollen sebacious glands

Other concern can be melanoma which it doesnt look like one.

Here i would like to mention that some molluscum have pit on them and some don't it's not usually the criteria of diagnosis but if you want to confirm the diagnosis , biopsy can be done , which can confirm it being molluscum.

Colourless mole is common finding in adults and they can be anywhere in the body including genitals, They are not really dangerous and are benign. One doesn't nhave to worry bout them but if there are issues in sexual life they can easily be removed by cosmetic surgeon.

Suggestions:

I want to assure you that they don't look like anything dangerous but still to alleviate doubts you can discuss about biopsy with your doctor.

You can decide about getting them removed if you can bear them no more.

No medicine is required for them untill a new one appears.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!

Regards.

Hi, thanks for the information. If they turn out to be Molluscum Contagiosum (which seems most likely) is there a way of getting rid of them without surgery? I was told originally they would subside and dissapear after about a year but seeing as 2 years have now past i'm not will to wait any longer for nature to take it course.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again.

Here are some options.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing back,

I want to mention here that these days surgery just means cautry..freezing.. or curretage.. no one these days remove lesions with a scalpal in hand and cutting through skin so don't worry these days "surgery" is safe and pain free.

Here is some info about possible treatment options.

But most important thing is that you get a biopsy done to confirm if is Molluscum contagiosum.

When it gets confirmed then you can plan a treatment.

Clinical success has been reported with the use of the following topical agents, which may act as irritants, stimulating an immunologic response:

Imiquimod cream - An immune response modifier approved for the treatment of external genital and perianal warts in adults, imiquimod cream has been reported to be effective in the treatment of molluscum contagiosum; imiquimod cream may be used in conjunction with cantharidin..

Cantharidin - Several studies report that cantharidin, a chemovesicant that can be used in combination with imiquimod, is effective in treating molluscum contagiosum; to test the patient's response to therapy, treat only a few lesions on the initial visit.

Tretinoin - This agent has reportedly been successful in the treatment of small molluscum contagiosum lesions

Tretinoin, cantharidin, and imiquimod may be dispensed to the patient with application instructions and close follow-up, although some recommend application in the office.

Bichloracetic acid, trichloroacetic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid, glycolic acid, potassium hydroxide, and silver nitrate are some other treatment options..which must be applied in the office by the physician.

Freezing and curretage are other options.

I would suggest you to have a meeting with your derma and discuss about biopsy and treatment stretagy.

I hope this gets cured without any intervention.

Best of luck :)

Regards.
