Question: I have these weird lumps appearing in and around my groin area. They are large sore and painful and sometimes the 'head' almost appears purplish as if bruised. If squeezed itll go away immediately! But another will pop up within hours just in another spot! What the hell is this??

Brief Answer:
Furuncle; Oral and topical antibiotic

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I am dr.kakkar (dermatologist). I have gone through your query and I have noted your concern.

Seems like you have furuncles which is a bacterial skin and soft tissue infection.

If I was the treating doctor I would suggest a course of an Oral antibiotic e.g Amoxicillin 500mg Or Cephalexin 500mg, thrice daily for a week.

You may also take an Oral antiinflammatory e.g Ibuprofen 400mg, twice or thrice daily for symptomatic relief from pain,

Topically you may use an antibiotic ointment e.g 2% mupirocin or 2% fusidic acid, twice daily.

Regards

Where on earth did I get it from? it's been for like a year? Is it contagious? Like did I 'catch it' somewheres?

Brief Answer:
Posdibilities regarding your complaints

Detailed Answer:
Hi. Thank you.

So its been for an year.
In addition to it possibly being recurrent furunculosis which can happen in staph. aureus carriers I would like to keep another possibility of Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) which also presents with painful furuncle like lesions and later on with sinuses and scars at various body sites like groins, perineum, axilla etc. hidradenitis suppurativa is a possibility since the condition has been recurring for so long. HS is not contagious. It is more common in females. Etiology of HS is not entirely clear.
Can you upload a few images im "Reports section" of this condition affecting your groins?

Regards
