Suggest Treatment For Long Term Ulcerative Colitis
Question: I have long term ulcerative colitis. Over the past few weeks I have suffered from acute muscle & tendon soreness , fatigue, diarrhea, and a feeling of general unwellness. what could be wrong and what should I do.

Hello,
I have studied your case. I think most of these symptoms are due to side effect of Sulfasalazine specially Diarrhea. So you need to stop these medicine for some time.
Also joint pain and muscle soreness is common due to inflammatory arthropathy that co exist with ulcerative collitis. I would suggest you following.
1. Meet your physcian and discuss whether diarrhea is due to relapse of disease or a side effect. He might advised you steroids for some time.
2.For joint pain
(A) I would suggest you to take calcium and vitmain D3 .
(B.) Tablet Carnisure one daily.
(C)Low dose steroids will also work in this.
(D) You need to take Methylcobal tablet daily for three months.
(E) Avoid cold temperature. Hot water fomentation is also useful.
