Suggest Treatment For Long Hair Stuck In Rectum

Question: Our 9 month old baby's stool contains long hair and part is still stuck inside her rectum and gentle pulling does not remove it. Is this serious or will it come out completely with the next bowel movement? Should we give her a natural laxative such as prune or pear juice? Any other recommendations or observations?

Hello. I just read through your question. It is most likely that your daughter swallowed the hair. It is best yo leave it and not pull it. It will likely come out in the next one or two bowel movements.

If, for some reason it doesn't come out in 1 or 2 bowel movements what do you recommend. Tomorrow is Sunday and we live in a remote part of Costa Rica...

I'd be very surprised if it didn't come out. If for some reason it didnt, I recommend consulting with your doctor. Keep in mind, however, that this wouldn't be an emergency. So if it took some time before you were able to see your doctor, that would be ok.
