Question: Hi. I am a 32yr old female and I have had earaches, headache, mild fever, swollen glands and lymph nodes, fatigue and dizziness for 16wks now. Been to the doctors since week 1 and no answers. My GP did all sorts of blood tests and everything came back perfectly good she said. About 2wks ago I got woken up by a really bad earache and woke up and felt like a burst in my ear. I felt this really weird feeling like you get when they put contrast in you for CT SCAN rushing through my body and told my husband to call an ambulance coz I thought I was dying. I ended up at hosiptal. They tested for TB and everything else but everything game back negative. Brain MRI and CT SCANS all came good. I've been 2wks ago but still feeling the same. And now I have aching legs and swollen lymphatic fluid on my collar bone. I know there must be some infection going on, maybe bacterial, viral or parasite but no seems to have any answers for me. Can someone please give me an answer or diagnose my symptoms.

Brief Answer:
otoscopy/blood cultures.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I had gone through your question and understand your concerns that you are having recurrent episodes of ear pain with lymph node enlargement.

I suggest you to follow these measures to overcome your health issues.

1. Ear pain could be due to referred otalgia (lesions of base of tongue, voice box), need otoscopy from an ent surgeon.

2. Send the samples for blood culture, it detects the organisms causing prolonged fever.

3. Chronic lymph node enlargements can be screened through fine needle aspiration cytology.

4. Some neuralgic (Glossopharyngeal, trigeminal) pain also causes ear pain with head-ache. Can be differentiated by detailed history by a neurologist or ent surgeon.

Hope this answers your question, if you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
