Brief Answer:
Loss of power

Detailed Answer:
Good evening

Thank you for writing on HealthcareMagic,

Well, I would like to clarify what exactly you mean you are losing your power...? Is it due to weakness that you cant form a grip or raise hands above shoulder or you feel lot of pain. As there is a lot of different approach we will have to take..??

I would like to ask you a few more queries to see where we are heading??

1. Any history of prolonged fever or weight loss or apetite loss??

2. Any history of dryness in the eyes or mouth??

3. Do you have any loss of early morning erection?

4. Is the sleep pattern ok or you feel fatigued on waking up?

5. Any recent irritability or forgetfullness??

6. Any lab parameters which you have been told is abnormal..??

7. about the pain you feel on the left side of the body.. is it a continuous one or does it get better with rest and worse on activity/.?

Do let me know about these queries,

Would try to guide you further

Regards
Dr Naval

Here are the answers to your questions

Answer to question #1-serious hot flashes on any given day. Gained 30 lbs in 9 months
Answer #2-yes to dry eyes and mouth.wear contacts defeated it to that/always thirsty
Answer #3-I don't get morning erections anymore. Have taken meds to help with blood flow but heart would race stopped taking them. Had kidney and gall stones a few years ago.
Answer #4-I have the worst sleep ever! My feet and hands on both sides become numb. Brought me to the emergency room because one day could not get out of bed because it was so bad. I was waking up at least 3 times a night and not to go to the bathroom. Just crazy restlessness and dreaming...I work anywhere from 11 to 14 hours 5.5 days a week/run a pretty successful company-pressure cooked though/I've come home at 630pm and have fallen asleep by 700pm only to be up at 1100pm and never being able to fall back asleep. Almost every day is exhausting to get up...I jump into a shower to get going. I'm taking Gabapentin and Nortriptyline for the nerves daily.
Question #5-I'm always irritable and usually have slot on my plate daily-forgetfulness happens all the time. Hard to focus/medicine gives calming effect though.
Question #6-CK level 249
Denegerative disc c3-c4/c4-c5/c5-c6/c6-c7
No surgery rehab suggested by 1 doctor
2 other doctors think my symptoms are from something else
Hypertension
Carpal tunnel in both hands- 2 specialists agreed there is something else going on and stated surgery would probably not make the hands better
Question #7- left side hurts continuously on my joints/rest then hurts more when I continue-joints on left hurt so much today when driving home almost went to the hospital- I'm not taking pain meds other than OTCs/spasms every day of sharp pain in joints sitting now hand and toes are asleep

Doctor-I'm just looking for answers so I can ask my doctors maybe to check something else
I've been to 2 neurologists/2 hand specialist/2 infectious disease doctors/ rheumatologist and working with my primary care physician. My next appointment is the 28th and I'm possibly getting a spinal tap. The CK levels just showed up so the doctor hasn't even talked to me about it yet.

Thank you for your time-

Dr.

My grip and forearm pain are constant. I'm at the point that I can't hold anything. Dropping even my notepad throughout the day. I never had this problem before I've had 2 EMG tests-shows neuropathy

Thank you-

Brief Answer:
Chronic pain syndrome

Detailed Answer:
Good evening

sorry for the late reply. Had a busy day taking care of daughter

Thanks for the detailed answer.....

Well coming down to few of the diagnosis,I am trying to narrow down to a few here:

1. Sjogrens Syndrome: The dryness in your eyes , mouth along with fatigue. We should rule this diagnosis out. I am not sure if your ANA and ENA has been carried out. But do check it out for me...

2. The constant pain in your forearm and hand...I thought it could be either from the Neck. But since the degenerative disc disease doesnt show any significant nerve compression, it rules it out...So other possibility would be to get it checked for Tennis Elbow. Ultrasound of the elbows would suffice

3. Make sure the calcium and PTH levels have been looked into...High calcium can cause all these symptoms

4. My last diagnosis would be Fibromyalgia... You already have been put on nortrytilline and Gabapentin for it. If we rule out all these conditions, we can consider this as the diagnosis as all your symptoms fit into it... But since it is the diagnosis of exclusion, we should rule the rest out.

Hope the information was useful

Thank you doctor

I do have one question-should I be concerned about the CK level-249? I honestly know nothing about this and if you could provide some insight I'd appreciate it.

Thanks again for taking the time out to answer my questions.

Brief Answer:
High CK levels

Detailed Answer:
Good evening

Well the CK levels are not very high..It can be a part of vitamin D defeciency at times as well. We just need to monitor it for further rise... I am not sure if Spinal tap will be helpful in your case either...

you can discuss these possibilities with your doctor and see what they advise
