Suggest Treatment For Kidney Stones Blocked In Ureter

default
Posted on Thu, 11 Dec 2014
Question: My question has to do with the removal of kidney stones. I was diagnosed with a large kidney stone about 5 months ago. As a result, I had lithotripsy to break up the stone about 6 weeks ago. The stone broke into 3 pieces which moved all the way to the opening of my bladder. Though they have not entered my bladder, the x-ray shows that they just about to enter. I have no pain or discomfort. My Urologist wants to do an invasive procedure to extract the three pieces. I am wondering if the procedure is necessary since there is no discomfort and the only movement will be to go into the bladder and out the penis.

Brief Answer:
It's better to get them removed.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
As per your description, it seems that the fragments of the stone are blocked in the Ureter.
They will not pass into the bladder easily. They may get blocked and cause the kidney to swell (Hydronephrosis ).
Hence, I request you to follow your doctor's advice to get them extracted by a probe.
Though there is no pain, you should get them removed.
It is a simple procedure.
Nothing to worry.
Hope I answered your query.
If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards
