Suggest Treatment For Itchy Rashes On The Torso, Chest, Back And Neck

Question: Hi I am a 20 year old female in college in california, with no known allergies, and have already have had chickenpox, twice. I have an itchy rash all over my torso, chest, back and neck. my sister is a dermatologist (she lives in a different state) and guessed from the photos three days ago that it was bed bugs. However, the last three days I have not even slept in my dorm room and the rash/bumps have now spread down my arms, the inside of my armpits, up my neck and are increasing. Additionally on the sides of my hips they are less like little red bumps and more like pencil eraser sized sploches. My sister said this is often diagnosed as something rosea but she had the same condition when she was 20 two weeks before she became very sick with her Crohn's disease for the first time, and now that she is a dermatologist, knows that what she/we had was not whatever rosea because there was no large starter splotch and it developed so quickly. Could I have crohn's? Should I go to a doctor or is this just a random rash??

Brief Answer:
Kindly upload an image of this rash for review!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

For sure this is not Crohn’s disease and you do not need to see a doctor for this. Crohn’s disease would always be typified with diarrhea, abdominal pain and blood in stools.

However, some rash types could signal an increased risk for Crohn’s disease. I will suggest that you upload an image of this rash for review and more insights from me. You can simply upload/attach them at the reports section of this webpage.

I hope to hear back from you at your earliest convenience. I wish you well.

Hello, I just uploaded photos. Any thoughts on what this might be? Would you mind explaining to me how that would signal increased risk for Crohn's disease?

Thank you,

Brief Answer:
This rash isn’t suggestive of increased risk for Crohn’s disease!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have reviewed these images. This rash is diffuse and doesn’t really tie with a specific disease condition. This might been seen more in cases of allergies to foods or beauty products. For now, I cannot tell what this exactly represents. However, I will suggest that you take Benadryl for itches if they are unbearable.

Rash could be accompanying symptoms in Crohn’s disease. The rash itself is not a cause but rather something that draws our attention towards such a disease condition. This is typically located on the lower limbs and made of bigger patches than this. Yours doesn’t fit that description.

In all, monitor this. Report progress to us and there is nothing present which requires that you see a doctor at this time.

Keep me updated. I wish you a speedy recovery!

Kind regards
