Question: hello, currently my gums, lips and 2 of my fingers (the pointer fingers on each hand) at the cuticle are irritable and itchy. i've seen several dermatologist for my fingers, they shoot me with steroids and i have received several ointments and cortizones. no one can help me. one doctor said fungus, but that wasnt the case and given the shape of the cuticle another doctor say "paranykia" and no one can link my fingers, lips and gums together. and its specific spots and it comes all at once every once in a while. but everyday my fingers are irritable. sometimes the cuticles swells and turn red, and yes i pick because it itches. its been this way for years. i sometimes feel like it has to do with my hormones. i notice when my hormones are high, all three areas are irritated. but my fingers are irritated all the time. i don't know what to do. ive been to the dentist and several "top derm" here in XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Could be Connective tissue disorder.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
I feel what you are experiencing are symptoms due to a Connective tissue disorder.
There does not seem to be any fungal infection or gum problem.
I suggest you see a Rheumatologist who can advice you best.
You will need to undergo blood tests like ESR, CRP, ANA, ACA, etc. This will tell us what id happening.
Do not worry its can be treated and is not anything to be stressed about.
But please see a Rheumatologist or you could send me the reports and I could advice you further course of action.
Take care,
Dr Rishi, New XXXXXXX XXXXXXX
