Suggest Treatment For Infertility While Trying To Conceive

default
Posted on Wed, 21 Jun 2017
Question: Hello,
I am 28 years old, trying to conceive for last 6 months with no luck. From what my gyn tracked from previous cycle, I ovulate with 18 mm follicle, endometrium thickness 7.8 at day 15 with a 28 - 29 day cycle. My haemoglobin level is 9.9 and I ve been having iron, folic acid, multivitamins for last one month. I experience spotting after ovulation (very light, mixed with white cervical mucus). My husband also has been checked and was found to have low sperm motility (26%, grade 4 - zero). My gynec thinks my leutal phase spotting is not an issue and once my husband is treated it should be ok. I need a second opinion for this. Please help.

Brief Answer:
Get HSG done

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I understand your concerns.

Everything seems to be fine and your husband's motility alone is unlikely to be a reason for infertility.

I suggest you get HSG ( hysterosalpingogram) test done for yourself to know if fallopian tubes are open or not. Open tubes are important to conceive.

Let me know if you need anymore help.

Hi,

Hello,
Thanks for answering my query.
I discussed with my gyn about hsg and she said we can check after monitoring for 5-6 months. Right now I want to understand below things.
1. Leutal phase spotting - does it need diagnosis/treatment? Should I be worried about this? Or is this ok as my doctor says?
2. My husband's sperm motility - Is it too low for conception? what kind of treatments should we expect? We have an appointment with a urologist soon. I want prior information on this.

Can you pls give specific information on above queries?
Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Luteal phase progesterone medicines can be taken

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

1) Luteal phase spotting dies not need big treatment. It just needs Progesterone tablets which your doctor would be giving you.

2) Your husband's motility is not very low to cause infertility. Your doctor or urologist is likely to prescribe antioxidant medication to improve the sperm motility.

3) I think you should go ahead with HSG first. If normal get IUI (intrauterine insemination) done to conceive which is important in low motility patients.
