Suggest Treatment For Hot Flashes In Post Menopausal State

default
Posted on Tue, 28 Oct 2014
Question: Hello- ever since I went through menopause 2 years ago (then endoscopy and ultimately hysterectomy), I have had over 15 hot flashes per day and I cannot take anti-depressants or can I take hormones (fathers sister had breats cacner). I feel like I have the flu every day of my life. On top of that, I developed panic attacks (shaking profusely, heart pounding a nd feelings that I'm not able to move - just frozen in terror). All I want is to make these attacks go away and to hopefully one day stop rolloing raound like a big ball of sweat. I ham starting to feel literal physiological dips in my moods, like dread from head to stomach. I am normally a very normal person with no need for any medications.

Brief Answer:
Venlafaxine and Bazedoxifene will help

Detailed Answer:
Hi Madam,

I have carefully read your query and understand your concern.

You seem to potmenopausal syndrome dominated by vasomotor changes.

The regular estrogen +progestin HRT cannot be prescribed to you in view of personal dislike and family history of breast cancer.

Earlier drugs used by you like clonazepam and diazepam are not safe in the long run and would deteorate your current symptom profile.

Since you are hystectomized following new therapeutic protocols will help to offer effective control of your vasomotor hot flushes and as well Panic attacks.

Drug called Venlafaxine is equally effective against both vasomotor hot flushes and panic attacks.
Drugs like Escitalopram 10-20 mg can alleviate more severe and frequent hot flushes.
The above 2 drugs constitute non hormonal drug therapies.

A combination of Bazedoxifene and Conugated estrogens(in low doses of .3 mg) has the advantage of controlling the vasomotor of flushes without increasing the risk of breast cancer.
This combination has also added benefit of preventing the nocturnal sleep disturbances due to hot flushes.

Soya isoflavones 200 mg/day can reduce the severity of hot flushes.

Paroxitene mesylate and Gabapentin are both effective against panic attacks mainly and hot flushes.

Note-all the mentioned drugs should be used only under strict medical supervision .

I hope this info is helpful to you,
Thank you
