Brief Answer:
Just observe if hives recur

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic

I am Dr. Kakkar. I have gone through your query and I have understood it

Hives Or Urticaria is an itchy condition in which the patient develops skin welts along with erythema/flare.
The various allergens that may be present in his environment may also be the reason for his Urticaria. His medical history is significant in this regard; he has a history of asthma and various allergies.
Since the hives have settled down, therefore, you need not take him to the doctor as of now.
Just observe him for now. However, if hives recurs you may give him syp cetrizine, 1 tsf once or twice daily instead of benadryl and continue it for a week.
The active ingredient in Benadryl is Diphenhydramine; it has a short duration of action(4-6 hours).
Cetrizine is long acting (effective for 12-24 hours). Moreover cetrizine is non-sedating.
