I want to take Pediatric consultation and opinion on her condition and possible course of treatment.

All reports and prescription is attached in this thread - https://www.healthcaremagic.com/AskDoctorInboxServlet?page=viewQuery&queryId=283417

Brief Answer:
Treatment proceeding in right lines.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. I have gone through your query, your previous query, as well as the attached prescriptions and images. Indeed it seems to be a case of allergic reaction or urticaria (hives) and the prescribed antiallergic Allerid should have helped. However, if the condition has not improved by now, you might need to shift to Montair LC Kid (monteleukast+levocetirizine, prescription medicine). Otherwise, treatment with steroids (Efcorlin and Wysolone) has already been started and she should respond soon. You may apply the prescribed Colosoft lotion or any other emollient/moisturizer for topical relief.

Hopefully the situation would improve soon.

Do not hesitate to write back if I could be of further assistance.

Hi Doctor

thanks for your prompt response, we are observing improvement,

1. kailiash hospital pediatric prescribed her 3 day dosage of steroid and anti-allergic medication wheres dermatologist prescribed her for 5 days? should we continue both medication BD for 5 days instead? we still have big hives in her thighs, stomach and back, there are still medium spots on hands and face

2. Is there any long term side affect of using steroid medicines?

3. she has been keeping body temperature of 100F and above with temperature shooting above 101 in morning and evening. Is this expected in hives with steriod treatment?

4. Application of calasoft lotion she normally complains about pain, is there any other better alternative for this lotion?

5. In morning she reports shivering when we take her to washroom and otherwise? is this normal?

we decided to hold to see pediatric today looking at improvement in her condition and would re-evaluate this decision tomorrow again.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. Sorry for not being able to respond faster. I am glad to know about the improvement.

1. You can give both the medicines for 5 days.
2. If the steroids are tapered off, long term side effects are unlikely.
3. The temperature is probably not associated with the treatment with steroids. Rather, probably the hives had been triggered by a viral infection which is the probable cause of the fever.
4. Any emollient or moisturizer like aloe vera lotion can be used. More or less, they would be same.
5. It is hard to comment without clinical examination. However, you can get her urine tested for routine microscopy and culture. Based on the reports I would be able to comment further.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards
